While studying at Queen’s University, Belfast, Patrick Kielty co-opened Belfast’s first stand-up comedy club The Empire, which spawned a one-off BBC television special The Empire Laughs Back; winner of an RTS Award. So began his life in the limelight!

He earned huge acclaim in Northern Ireland, hosting his own live show PK Tonight, which attracted a 60% audience share on BBC NI and won him an RTS Award for Best Regional Presenter.

Patrick became a household name in the UK with the Channel Four show Last Chance Lottery from which he went on to present BBC1’s The National Lottery Big Ticket with Anthea Turner.

In 1999, BBC executives spotted Patrick’s talent and he was given his own network-prime time chat show on BBC1, Patrick Kielty Almost Live; made by his production company Green Inc. The show proved a ratings success and established his relationship with the BBC, leading to a further five series.

He went on to co-host BBC1’s Fame Academy, followed by Celebrity Fame Academy in 2003 in aid of Comic Relief and later fronted the popular ITV1 series Celebrity Love Island in 2005 and 2006.

Patrick has enjoyed guest appearances on a host of BBC TV shows and his first UK stand up tour that started in October 2005 was so successful that it continued its run into 2006.

Patrick has even had a recent foray into theatre, embarking on his first ever acting role in the Marie Jones’ play A Night In November.
