Jason Gardiner
Jason is best known to UK and Australian audiences for his role as the Judge on the 2005 hit show, Dancing on Ice (Granada/ITV). However, it is his role as the Culture Expert on Queer Eye for the Straight Guy UK (Living TV and Bravo US), Red Carpet Moments and Specials on E! Entertainment, have given him a truly international audience in 120 countries. His colorfully descriptive comments and dry wit cause controversy but ultimately prove that he is not afraid to say what he really thinks. His family even jokes that when he was born he was a mouth and the rest of him grew round it!

Jason is originally from Melbourne, Australia, but has lived in London for 12 years making it his home. He was adopted at the age of 6 months and it was clear very early on that he was different from the other boys! He longed to be a performer on the stage and from the age of 5 was putting on shows, directing and choreographing his less than enthusiastic cousins and probably boring the hell out of his family in the process. At 12, he wrote and submitted his first musical and was the youngest ever applicant to attend The Workshop in Sydney. No longer was he the only freak in the village, he discovered other like-minded freaks from all over the country and spent an entire 2 weeks work-shopping and performing all the submitted works. It was after this life defining experience that Jason decided he wanted to be in this business called show.

Since then he has traveled far and wide and now lives a varied and colorful life which spans theatre, film, TV and cabaret. He began his professional career at the tender age of 16 in the original Australian cast of 42nd STREET and has gone on to perform in over 20 award winning musicals over the past 17 years throughout America, London, Europe and Asia. He had his own production company called The Creative Production Group based in Hong Kong which created corporate shows throughout South East Asia. After three intense years he longed to return to the stage, and wanted to fulfill his dream of performing in London’s prestigious West End.

Whilst Jason was performing in the RNT’s award winning Sir Trevor Nunn production of ANYTHING GOES in 2004, he was cast as the Culture Expert for the UK version of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. He was forced to make a decision that would alter his life forever and after much deliberation chose to leave theatre and pursue a career in TV. His decision has proven to be fruitful. The UK version of Queer Eye was the first American format to be sold back to the U.S.A and shown on Bravo. He was spotted by the heads of E! Entertainment and approached to cover the red carpet for all London film premieres. This led to him co-hosting a special for the 2004 Academy Awards called Bring on the Bling, covering the BAFTAS Film and Television Awards, and two exclusive interviews with the legendary Hugh Hefner at the infamous Playboy Mansion.

Jason’s distinctive flair for fashion and sharp eye, which contributed to him being cast in Queer Eye UK, has allowed him on board with ITV’s This Morning critiquing the style attempts of celebrities for a segment called Beat the Stylist.

As an accomplished choreographer and dancer, Jason has worked for some of the industry’s biggest names and regularly mounts productions throughout Europe.
